What is Nerve Root Pain?
Nerve Root Pain:
A nerve coming out from the spinal cord (the root of the nerve) is either irritated or pressed upon. In other words, a trapped nerve. One feels pain along the course of the nerve. Therefore, if the affected area is the leg, one typically feels the pain down the leg, sometimes as far as to the calf or foot. The pain in leg or foot is more intense than that in the back. The irritation/ pressure on the nerve may also cause pins and needles, numbness or weakness in parts of buttock, leg or foot.
Symptoms:
Pain radiation occurs depending upon the affected segment localized to the area. Movements are restricted as well. Sometimes tingling sensation and numbness are also experienced.
